In 1910 Harry ‘Inigo’ Triggs bought Fry’s Farm, Liphook and set about transforming it into Little Boarhunt. He was already and architect of repute and was partnered with Gerald Unsworth, who had offices in Station Road, Petersfield. For much of his working life he was based in Liphook and designed several houses in the village, notably ‘Hallie’ (formerly the Old Rectory) and, of course, Little Boarhunt.
Triggs was as much a garden architect as he was a designer of buildings. As well as his time in East Hampshire he also worked extensively in Switzerland and Sicily. He designed many war memorials, including the one at St. Mary’s in Bramshott.
Triggs’ work became an obsession of Adrian Bird, former Chairman of the Preservation Society (now Heritage Society). He spent countless hours researching, photographing and creating drawings of many of the most famous projects. Some of his research can be view through the link below.
